One Buck Short
Popular Malaysian local band, started off as a school project in a canteen shot to fame soon after opening for international acts like Fall Out Boy. OBS is Mooky (vox), Rahul (guitar), Izal (bass) and Imran (drum). One Buck Short burst straight into the local scene about 6 years ago and now loaded with a handful of experience and a truckload of rockin’ hit songs – OBS is a band that will definitely get you screaming, rocking and moshing non-stop!
A singer songwriter popularly known as the lead singer of band Estrella, Liyana plays a mix of acoustic Indie tunes tinged with folk, bossa and jazz and has performed across Malaysia, Laos, United Kingdom and Indonesia.
Bombarded with copious amounts of Top 40 gamma rays as a child, Reza owes much of his young singing career to the Seattle sounds of Nirvana, the rap-rock edge of Rage Against the Machine (though how this is reflected in his music, he professes, he’ll never know), the vocal styling of Black American vocalists, and a whole list of other musical influences. He gathers a mish-mash of elements drawn from a combination of ‘whatever’s going on in my head and whatever I’ve been listening to in the past 10 years or so’. Dark, heartfelt, confused, Reza’s tunes are best served with coffee. He also organises a show twice a month called Moonshine.
A recent mainstay in the local acoustic indie circuit, Rashdan’s blend of pop, soul, funk and the blues has garnered the ‘thumbs up’ amongst local music fans. He has performed at shows such as the Bedroom Musician Series, Doppelganger, Live at No Black Tie and Moonshine and is fresh off a stint at Urbanscapes 09 and Fly FM’s Campur Chart Goes Live. Rashdan recently released an EP with the Rashdan Harith Band – a group of talented musicians that bring forth groovy, heartfelt sounds.
